Future

In addition to its significant role in architectural education, the Association will encourage ventures directed towards a greater public understanding of architecture and the built environment.

It will engage with networks regarding education and practice to create synergies with similar organisations throughout the country, and assist people in the region who have an interest in architecture. From new structures to community design projects, the Northern Architectural Association aims to be at the forefront of regional activity, promoting innovation and sharing knowledge. It will support initiatives that offer novel approaches to enrich experiences. Always an advocate of high quality architecture, whether it be historical or modern, the Association will campaign to save any distinguished building and foster design proposals that will enrich the city of Newcastle upon Tyne and the entire region. There is a substantial archive of 19th – 21st Century regional architecture.

This will be further enlarged with contributions including illustrations of contemporary architecture, strategies, and literature regarding local architects and their buildings. Acting as a resource, access will be available to researchers, scholars, and anyone wishing to discover more about the developing built environment; inspiring thinking about how architecture can positively impact on people and places.
